In 1955, after receiving religious training from the Sisters of Social Service, Mrs. Nicky Lipscomb and Mrs. Loretta Toggenberger held religion classes in their homes for the children in the parish. When the school opened in September 1957, the Religious Education Program began in earnest. 300 Children from neighboring public schools came on Saturday mornings for their religious training.

An army of volunteers were needed to teach - Whit Jones, John Lipscomb, Lloyd Forrest, Ham Hendershott and Fr. McGoldrick were among those who taught the high school students. Those with special needs. Were first taught by Mrs. Pat Flaherty, Mrs. Ila Keegan, Mrs. Clara Swanson and Mrs. Mary Hendershott. The earliest retreat director was Fr. Ellwood Kieser, who later directed the popular so-minute Paulist tv series “Insight”.

After completing Religious Education, the students are considered to be adults in the Catholic faith and prepared to bring faith to others through their actions and prayers.
