We lovingly and enthusiastically proclaim the message of Jesus Christ through our participation in the Eucharist and the celebration of the sacraments, and by our witnessing of Christ’s message inside and outside the parish. We promote human dignity, family, and the common good. In this way, we model Christ in the world and help to build the Kingdom of God. Individually and as a community, we experience an ever deepening relationship with Christ as we move through different stages of life from childhood to adulthood, from middle to old age. Our faith community meets us where we are and helps us to understand how God is present in our every day lives. Effective preaching, teaching and learning of the Word of God contribute to the ongoing maturation of our faith. Our parish community motivates us to extend ourselves to our fellow Christians of other denominations, as well to those of other faiths. In accepting each other’s sacred humanity, our own self-understanding as Catholics is deepened and enriched. As individuals, we acknowledge our baptismal responsibility to collaborate with God in the work of creation. Each of us gratefully brings our God-given gifts and resources to enable our parish to carry out its mission and vision. Through committed and visionary leadership, our gifts are cherished and fostered by all. Servant-leaders partner with our pastor in visioning, planning, and implementing the mission of our parish As a Catholic community, we live out our faith in service to others, seeking to end injustice and to build peace both within and outside our parish. We focus on the needs of the human community, beginning with our own parishioners and extending to the poor and marginalized in our neighborhoods, the nation and the world. As we engage in this work of Christ, we create a world, here and now, in which the potential of every human being is fully realized, community is honored, and love of God is made real in selfless love of neighbor. We are a prayerful, welcoming community, and all people, no matter how diverse, feel a sense of belonging in our parish. Our liturgical life, which reflects the cultural and linguistic realities of our parishioners, leads each person to know and feel God’s presence in every aspect of shared worship. All of us enter into a “Holy Communion of love and fellowship” that will bring to life the message of Jesus Christ in St. Bridget of Sweden Parish. |
